Breakfast with Prime Minister Špidla

"Breakfast with Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla" kicked off the second series of regular meetings of senior government representatives with foreign investors, representatives from the Czech private sector and partners of the "Partnership to Support Foreign Direct Investment in the Czech Republic".
This meeting focused on the present cabinet's stance towards foreign direct investment influx to the Czech Republic. The prime minister expressed the cabinet's positive standpoint in relation to foreign investors and stressed the importance of the Czech economy's openness and the need to continue creating an attractive investment climate in the Czech Republic in the future.
Throughout the open discussion guests had the opportunity to confront issues with the prime minister that they encounter when doing business in the Czech Republic. Vladimír Špidla made a case for strengthening the Czech currency through natural growth of the domestic economy, defended the importance of the social system in current policy and praised the quality of the Czech work force. The prime minister went on to explain the priorities of building transportation and telecommunications infrastructure and the need to emphasize education in technical fields with a long tradition and long-term prospects. He also agreed with the need for health insurance reform in this country.
The ever-rising interest of invited guests in attending "Breakfast with ..." is a clear signal of the importance of these gatherings in facilitating a mutual exchange of opinions with senior government representatives.
